Ermmm, nevermind about the font search. I think I have decided on a new design. Some people say it is too calm for my personality but I think it will work out really really well. We shall see.
Oh, someone please get me one of these keyboards: http://www.geocities.com/jszybowski/keyboard/

I am really bored with the design of this site (yeah I know, it is only seven months old) so I am working on a new design. I plan on doing it in such a fasion that you can continue to use the current one if you wish or use the new one. What I want from you folks is to find me some sort of cartoonish font for me to consider using in the graphics. There is one stipulation, the font must be free and not pirated. You can look through the free fonts at Blambot! to start with. Who knows, you may end up picking what I go with.

Evidently I work at one of the very few computer help desks that actually help people. This article (you have to watch a flash ad first to actually read it) came across Slashdot today. In it is a technicians description of his job at a tech support oursourcer and how they are, basically, required to do anything possible to get the person in need off the phone within twelve minutes - problem be damned. I can't even begin to count the number of times I have had to spend upwards of forty-five minutes on the phone with a distraught person because they don't really know their ass from a hole in the ground. There is just about no way to troubleshoot even 1% of the calls we get in twelve minutes.
Want a real world example of how this is a really really bad approach to tech support? Read this rant.

Remember I said that I set FireFox up on my grandfather's machine? He seems to really like it. He was able to notice a significant speed increase over Konqueror and likes the way the status bar actually tells you what it is doing.

Okay, this amendment to ban same sex marriage is really getting on my damn nerves. It is embarassing to me that my home state wants to amend its constitution in this manner. Just read this quote from the Atlanta Journal and Constitution:
"Children need mothers and fathers. Their well-being cannot be sacrificed so that adults get to form the families they choose," said Sadie Fields, Christian Coalition state chairman. "We must do what is necessary to preserve marriage, as that is the only way to reproduce ourselves, and it also is necessary for the preservation of any civilization."
I am absolutely astounded at that statement. I particularly love the part where she says, "We must do what is necessary to preserve marriage, as that is the only way to reproduce ourselves..." How can anyone make that statement and consider themselves even remotely intelligent? Sorry lady, marriage has absolutely nothing to do with reproduction. Here is a five hour History of Sex as related by the History Channel.
I can almost guarantee you that this lady is a "christian" and as such has been inundated with out of date notions of human sexual interaction.
I think some people need to learn that the bible, the book they can't seem to live without, is written by man. As such, it has "laws" written to keep man in check. It is also influenced by other stories that are MUCH older than it is. Don't know what I am talking about? Read Gilgamesh. It is an epic, just as the bible is an epic, that is the earliest known writing on Earth. This document is estimated to have originated around 2000 B.C.E. The start of this epic mentions a great flood. Sound familiar?
Aside from the biblical stuff being an absolutely horrible way to look at it there is the fact that it is an inherrent denial of civil rights. Yes, it is. Read the Meriam-Webster definition. If you can read that definition and tell me that denying a group of people the right to affirm their affection for one another then you are a jackass. That is all marriage is - an affirmation, as well as a promise to be faithful, of one's affection for another human being.
Times change. Words change.
